Match Reports. Bringing you all the latest goals

Kirbymoorside 3 Fishburn Park
Fishburns unbeaten start to the season came to an end at the hands of a well organises Kirby side. In a game of two halfs, the first was one to forget for the visitors, as  the hosts took  control from the start.
Parks usually solid defence were caught short on a number of occasions and were lucky not to concede more than two goals in the first half. Poor finishing or good goalkeeping from Leeman in Fishburn goal kept the score down.
The second half was a different story Park came out a different team and got the early goal they had hoped for. A short corner saw Weatherill beat two players and fire a shot which the keeper could only parry into the net. Fishburn never let up after that attack on attack they peppered the kirby goal , but after hitting the woodwork twice and missing numerous good chances it just turned out to be one of those days, as a late flourish from the hosts saw them score a third and send Park to their fisrt defeat.

Great Play

Fishburn Park  2 Holt FC 0
Fishburn won the toss and decided to kick against the strong breeze, the first ten minutes or so were pretty even but after that Park got a hold on the game. Park missed a few good chances , some good football found them one on one with the keeper on a few occasions , only to be denied the lead with some good saves.
Fishburns persistance eventually got them in front on recieving the ball Weatherill raced through and unleashed a fierce drive , the keeper got a hand  to it but was unable to stop it trickle over the line. Soon after Park went two up  when Smith robbed the ball from a hesitant defender then ran on to round the goalie and slot the ball home. Holts only reply was the long ball over the top , which was easily dealt with by Fishburns excellent defending. The second half saw Holt have more good posession, but Park having the best scoring chances. The game peated out and finished what was really a comfortable win for the home side and kept up there unbeaten start to the season.

Another fine performance

Easingwold Town 1 Fishburn Park 2

Fishburn made the long trip to Easingwold hoping to keep their cup dream alive.
On a perfect playing surface, park soon got to grips with their opponents giving them no time to settle. Fishburn took a deserved lead midway through the first half a lovely through ball from Clarke saw Smith race on and fire an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net, it remained 1-0 going into half time.
The second half started with the hosts having their best spell of the game, constant pressure eventually leading to an equaliser. This seemed to shake Park back into action, Weatherill recieved the ball on the left, beat his man well, got to the bye line, and a fine cross was met by a tremendous Crowther header, which looped over the keeper and into the net.
Fishburn saw the game out for a memorable win , and were thankful for a top class display from their back four of Price-coates, Locker, Smurthwaite and Booth.

Superb!

Phoenix FC 6 Fishburn Park 1

Fishburn entertained their arch rivals Phoenix in the league cup on what turned out to be a blustery afternoon in more ways than one. Park who played the game with only ten men due to five of the regular first team players been away on holiday, kicked off against the strong wind and were a goal down within a minute, a fine shot gave Leeman no chance in the Fishburn goal. Parks make-shift side battled well through the first half but went into the break at 4-0 down. The second half started like the first with Phoenix grabbing a early goal. Fishburn did get a  deserved consolation goal , a good ball from the tireless Crowther saw Clarke finish well. Phoenix finished the game with a sixth goal and ran out deserved winners.

Goal!!

Flamborough 3 Fishburn Park 9

Fishburn made the long trip to Flamborough hoping to keep their unbeaten start to the season. The first half saw Flamborough play much the better football and made the usually dominant park look pretty average. Leeman in the goal was the busiest of the two keeper but been at his usual best kept the hosts at bay. Park did take their chances and went into the half-time three goals up, one of which was goal of the game,Weatherill turned and struck the ball from the near the half way line to give the keeper no chance
The second half saw a slight improvement from Fishburn but got a scare when Flambourough scored three well taken goals Parks scorers were Clarke, Crowther, Smith with a couple of hat-tricks from Weatherill and the lively Graham.

Not a lot to do!

Cayton 1 Fishburn Park 7

Fishburn travelled to Cayton to face a side who over the years have been their bogey team. Playing against a strong wind they found it difficult to get their passing game going and only good defending stopped Cayton scoring. As the first half went on Parks powerful players began to dominate and they took the lead through Clarke. Park increased their lead with further goals from Clarke, Weatherill and Crowther to make the half time score 4-0.
The second half began in spectacular fashion when straight from the kick-off the ball was played to Clarke who scored with a great strike from 10 yards inside his own half. Cayton now had their best spell and pulled a goal back. Further goals from Adamski and Stewart rounded off the game to make the final score 7-1

Netted the 7th!

Fishburn Park 4 Phoenix 1

Fishburn began their season at home to last seasons League and Cup double winners Phoenix. The opening minutes were very even with both sides playing some neat football. Slowly Park began to take control and when Clarke won the ball he fed Weatherill who struck an unstoppable left foot shot which found the top corner. Phoenix responded well and had their best spell putting pressure on the Park defence and with minutes to go to half time they equalised when a cross was deflected into the net by a Park defender.
The second half started with Park on top and it was not long before Weatherill made it 2-1 with a neat finish. Clarke was next on the score sheet when he beat 3 players and found the bottom corner. As the game entered the last 15 minutes Weatherill completed his hat trick with a penalty.
This was a brilliant opening to Parks season against last season’s top team.
